The Eurogroup is an advisory and coordination body that brings together the 18 ministers for Economic and Financial Affairs of the member states of the euro area. It provides a space to discuss about economic and financial issues linked to the EU’s economic and monetary union (EMU). It is an informal meeting that takes place the day before the ECOFIN Council meets (the Council of the 28 European ministers for finance and economic affairs). The European Commissioner for Economic Affairs and the ECB President also take part in the work of the Eurogroup.
