“Europe should focus on digital innovation”
Joint statement of the Trio Presidency Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg

Italy, Latvia and Luxembourg agree on the need for Europe to push on digital innovation as a boost for growth and job opportunities (on the footsteps of  the Digital Agenda 2020) and are committed to find a common view for the 28 EU countries on the Connected Continent Package  (TSM) and on the Network and Information Security directive (NIS). Italy considers digital development a priority of its Presidency of the Council of the European Union and will work for Europe to speak with one voice on Internet governance, a commitment that will continue in the forthcoming semesters, under the Latvian and Luxembourg Presidencies”. 

This is the joint statement that followed the meeting held at the Ministry for Economic Development on Thursday the 24th of July, when Antonello Giacomelli, Italian Undersecretary responsible for communication, exchanged views with representatives of the next two EU Council Presidencies: Xavier Bettel, Luxembourg Prime Minister and Anrijs Matiss, Latvian Minister for Transport.
