Latvia it’s a global leader in environmental innovation, and the national pavilion at Expo will take the form of an enormous oak tree, as an emblem of this position.
The concept – entitled Nature Inside – will embody the idea of Food and Culture for a Better Life.
The oak tree underscores the Latvian belief that harmonious and respectful co-existence between humans and nature is the only means of sustaining long-term environmental integrity across a vast range of ecosystems.
Historically, Latvians have long resided in harmony with Mother Nature; their respect for the environment has been passed on through generations. It is little surprise Latvia is standing as a role model for nations suffering from environmental imbalances due to industry. Latvia is ranked first among 132 countries in the Pilot Trend Environmental Performance Index (Trend EPI), reflecting facets of both environmental public health and ecosystem vitality.
