The United Kingdom's participation at Expo Milano 2015 aims to raise global awareness on the impact that food production and consumption have on people's lives, everywhere in the world. Food choices and policies help to determine the health and well-being of each individual, but those made by industrialized countries may have important consequences on the availability of food, even in countries in the developing world.
To demonstrate this and to stimulate discussion on the need to talk about education and food security in schools, universities and in ever-increasing communities of people, the United Kingdom shows visitors to its pavilion new achievements and innovations reached in each stage of the food chain, from seed to plate, from field to table: agricultural technologies, food security, food and drink, functional food, logistics, openness to global markets and international cooperation.
The British space offers the possibility to create simple and stimulating forms of entertainment, and at the same time, shares with an international audience the United Kingdom’s contribution in dealing with global challenges and achieving the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations.
